The Survey of Moving Image Collections
held in the Regions

A key aspect of the Screen Heritage Strategy is its recognition that there exists across the UK many moving image collections of cultural, artistic and historical significance and that these are held in many places.  The Strategy calls for the reorganisation of English regional delivery so that the public can enjoy greater access to these collections, regardless of where they live.  In parallel to such access initiatives, we are seeking to strengthen the sector through greater co-operation between regions and collections in order to help create a more efficient and effective response to the needs of significant regional collections.

In order to achieve this, the nine Regional Screen Agencies are working together to survey collections within their own regions which we hope will lead to the creation of a consistent England-wide map that will provide up to date information enabling us to plan for future delivery.

We are aware that there have been several mapping exercises undertaken in many regions, at various times over the past 5 years.  However, there is no consistent body of England – wide information, which is why we are asking once again for your co-operation in responding to this survey.
